Our Story

Why Aus Online Quran Academy Was Founded

Aus Online Quran Academy was founded in 2011 by Shaykh Ahmed Hassan, after he saw the same gap repeated across Australian Muslim families: parents wanted structured, correct Quran education for their children, but no class existed nearby, or the nearest option ran on a fixed group schedule that did not fit their week.

Australia's Muslim population, now over 813,000 people according to the 2021 Census, is spread across every state and territory, from established communities in Western Sydney to families in regional towns with no madrasah within reach. A live, one-to-one online class solved a problem that a physical classroom could not: distance stopped mattering.

What started as a small number of one-to-one Zoom sessions has grown into a full academy offering eleven distinct Quran and Islamic Studies courses, taught by five certified tutors, serving students from age three through to adulthood, across every Australian time zone.

Our Mission

To make correct, one-to-one Quran education accessible to every Muslim family in Australia, regardless of location, age, or prior experience, taught by verified tutors under a single consistent standard set by our founder and applied to every class.

Meet the Founder

Who Leads Aus Online Quran Academy?

Founder

Shaykh Ahmed Hassan

Founder & Lead Quran Instructor

Shaykh Ahmed Hassan founded Aus Online Quran Academy in 2011 after 12 years of teaching and academy-leadership experience, with a specific goal: bring authentic, one-to-one Quran education to Muslim families across Australia who had no structured class within reach. He holds an Ijazah in Hafs 'an Asim along with advanced studies in Qira'at, and is a graduate of Islamic studies with a focus on Quran education.

He personally oversees the academy's curriculum, mentors the Hifz program, and conducts final assessments for the Ijazah course, so the teaching standard he set in 2011 is the standard every class still runs on today. Sanad documentation is available on request for any student who wants to verify the chain his certification connects to.

Every Tutor Trained Personally

No tutor teaches a live class until Shaykh Ahmed Hassan has personally reviewed their recitation, teaching style, and understanding of the curriculum.

One Curriculum, Not Five Approaches

All eleven courses follow a curriculum he designed and continues to update, so a student's experience does not depend on which tutor they are matched with.

Direct Ijazah Assessment

Students pursuing formal Ijazah certification receive their final assessment directly from the founder, not a delegated tutor.

Our Approach

What We Believe Good Quran Teaching Looks Like

One-to-One, Never Group

Every class runs live between one student and one tutor. Mistakes get corrected the moment they happen, not after a recording is reviewed later.

Verified Credentials, No Exceptions

Every tutor holds a documented Ijazah before they are matched with a student. Sanad chains are available on request for families who want to verify them.

Real Choice of Tutor Gender

A family choosing a male or female tutor is the default, not a special request that needs justifying or waiting on.

A Structured Path, Not Isolated Lessons

Courses connect to each other in a defined order, from Noorani Qaida through Tajweed to Hifz or Ijazah, so a student always knows what comes next.

Built Around Australian Life

Scheduling covers AEST, ACST, and AWST, and fees are quoted in AUD from the outset, with no currency conversion guesswork.

Honesty Over a Sale

A tutor tells a student honestly when they are not yet ready for the next stage, rather than moving them forward to keep a plan looking impressive.

Why Families Trust Us

Standards We Hold Every Class To

Tutor Vetting

Identity verification, a reference check with a prior teaching institution, and a supervised trial period before any tutor is matched with a student.

No Session Recording

Classes are never recorded or stored. Each session exists only as a live call between the student and their assigned tutor.

100% Money-Back Guarantee

Not satisfied after your first paid month? A full refund, with no complicated process and no unnecessary questions.

Direct Reporting Line

Any concern reaches academy management directly, on WhatsApp or email, not the tutor, with a response within 24 hours.
